In the course of continuing to meditate on the 'Blade Runner' sequel, and chat about the filmic adaption of 'Dune' he is currently working on, director Denis Villenueve confirmed he spoke with Barbara Broccoli at EON Productions about the possibility of helming a Bond film.
In an interview with Screen Crush, Villenueve spoke a little more candidly than he did last week. "I would love to. I said to Barbara [Broccoli], I would love to work with you and with Daniel, but I’m engaged. [Laughs] I will love to do it, honestly. I’m a spoiled filmmaker right now."
MI6 understands that Villenueve had been in the running for the directorial job on Bond 25 from July this year when a host of younger up-and-coming filmmakers were under consideration.
Villenueve's involvement would have appealed to many as he might have overseen the return of Oscar-nominated cinematographer Roger Deakins to the Bond family, after performing such stunning work on 'Skyfall'.
For Villenueve, it was just a matter of timing. "I would love to do a Bond movie. I think Daniel Craig is a fantastic actor and I would like to, but several months ago I came into do Dune and I engaged myself."
