Spanish broadcaster La Sexta lands 007 deal for television marathon
Spanish broadcast group La Sexta has just signed a deal with MGM to secure free-to-air rights for movies the studio releases theatrically during the next three years.
In the announcement, a number of new MGM movies were listed, but "Skyfall" was not included - perhaps because it is being distributed by a partnership with Sony/Columbia Tristar.
But La Sexta did land rights to the back-catalogue of 22 James Bond films, from "Dr. No" to "Quantum of Solace." The deal lasts through 2014.
Fans in Spain can look forward to a special television marathon event later this year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the series.
