Aston Martin set to return to racing with the DB9 - ready for Bond 21?
British car manufacturer Aston Martin has launched a racing team to compete on the global circuit in 2004, reports the
BBC.
The new DB9 model will be at the heart of Aston Martin Racing which will take part in production-based competitions.
"Aston Martin is an exclusive brand, said chief executive Ulrich Bez. "But motorsport will heighten our profile."
"Production-based sports car series are growing in stature and by competing in them we can show that our cars are also the best on the track."
Aston Martin, which has been making cars for 89 years, won the World Sportscar Championship and Le Mans 24-Hours titles in 1959.
The company are aiming to emulate the successful reinvention of the Bentley team who repeated former glories by winning Le Mans last year.
