Train derailment atop Varda Viaduct causes headache for 'Skyfall' test shots

28-Mar-2012 • Skyfall

A train derailment on a bridge has caused a headache for "Skyfall" filming in Turkey.

As test shots were being prepared for a train sequence over the stunning Varda Viaduct, a freight train derailed and stranded crew and passengers for 2 hours atop the 99-meter high gorge.

Local media are reporting that the derailment could have been a lot worse given the precarious nature of the track and the long drop either side (video).

The 172 meter long span claimed the lives of 21 workers when it was first constructed in 1912.
