Daniel Craig talks about the long gap before 'Skyfall'
After a four year gap following his second 007 adventure "Quantum of Solace", you could understand if Daniel Craig was a little edgy about ever returning through the long wait of MGM's financial woes. But rather than living with nervous tension through the affair, âI was very sanguine about the whole thing,â he told Empire magazine of the hiatus.
âThere was nothing I could do about the situation. I could have made a phone call and gone, âPleeeease,â but thatâs not really my style. So I was just thinking, âItâll work itself out, and if itâs not meant to be, itâs not to beâ. Although the longer things went on, the more desperate I became to make another one, and thankfully we just carried on regardless.â
Daniel convinced Sam Mendes to direct the latest instalment. They have been friends since working on Samâs 2002 release Road to Perdition. The two spoke about the next Bond film when they bumped into each other at a party in 2009.
Craig also explains how he hooked Sam Mendes to direct the movie - the pair had remained friends after working together on 'Road to Perdition' in 2002 and met once more at a party in 2009. â[I said], âWhat about doing the next Bond movie,ââ Daniel recalled. âThe script came together and it gave us the chance to prepare ourselves in a way that we hadnât had on the other movies. And Sam got involved.â
