Bookmakers pay out on Adele bets despite lack of confirmation
A leading bookmaker in the UK has begun paying bets that Adele will sing the title theme to "Skyfall" even though there is no official confirmation yet.
William Hill originally offered 4-1 odds that she would get the gig, and with thousands of fans laying down bets, the odds narrowed to even money.
A spokesman for the betting chain said: "The way our punters were backing her, it seems as though Adele was going to be the only option to sing the Skyfall theme. We are now unfortunately shaken, not stirred by this particular Bond battering."
It may be a wise choice for the bookmaker, who could stand to lose a lot of money if they keep the odds open to new bets, assuming Adele is later confirmed soon.
Many (usually reputable) movie blogs are repeating the false claim that Adele is officially confirmed thanks to a speculative post on Showbiz411, when in fact no confirmation has been given.
A spokesman for Adele declined to comment.
EON Productions said they do no comment on rumours.
Many speculate that the artist and title song will be revealed on global James Bond day: October 5th.
