Resurrection: 'Skyfall' returns to #1 spot at UK box-office in its sixth week
James Bond historians dust off your record books. When was the last time a 007 adventure returned to the #1 spot at the UK box-office in its sixth week on release?
Whether or not it's been done before, it's an impressive feat in the current climate at the box-office where a new release is often old hat within a week.
"Skyfall" took £2.3m over its 6th three-day weekend on release in the UK to regain the #1 spot and build an enormous total of £93.8m.
It probably broke the all-time UK record held by "Avatar" at £94m sometime on Monday or Tuesday, but UK box-office reporting is not as frequent as in the USA so everyone will have to wait for the official figures later in the week for confirmation.
"Twilight" was relegated to #2 despite being released three weeks after "Skyfall" in the UK.
The only wide release next week in the UK is Momentumâs "Seven Psychopaths" starring Bond girl Olga Kurylenko.
It is quite possible that "Skyall" will top £100m in the UK by Christmas.
