Academics study James Bond film violence
Researchers from the University of Otago, in New Zealand, have adopted a schema from the US National Television Violence Study and turned their attention to the James Bond film series.
âThere is extensive research evidence suggesting that young peopleâs viewing of media violence can contribute to desensitization to violence and aggressive behaviour,â says Bob Hancox, one of the report's authors.
The report classified 109 acts of violence in "Dr. No", compared with 250 acts of violence in "Quantum of Solace", leading researchers to conclude that Bond films, and indeed the action genre in general, is getting progressively more violent as time progresses..
