Sony electronics takes a dip despite James Bond product placement

Bond is issued a Xperia T smartphone in "Skyfall", but even 007 may not be enough of a role model to save the cellphone manufacturer, Sony, from financial trouble.

Sony, Panasonic Corp. (6752) and Sharp Corp. recorded a thirty-year sales low this year, with fiscal year losses grossing 1.6 trillion yen ($19 billion).

Pundits are now predicting a sweep of redundancy at the Japanese corporation in the early months of 2013.

Declining TV sales are also hurting the electronics manufacturer and for the ninth year in a row, the TV devision reported losses.
