Aishwarya Rai voted the most beautiful woman in the world, can the Bond producers resist her?

Her films are seen by millions, and she is the highest-paid actress in her native India - but she is still a little-known name on UK shores.

But that has not stopped Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai being voted the most beautiful woman in the world.

She could lose her relative anonymity in the UK soon due to the frequency of rumours surrounding her and Bond 21.

Depsite her agent denying all links to the next Bond film, the constant press attention in the UK has made her name familiar to people who may not have even seen any of her films.

Tens of thousands of Hello! magazine readers chose the former Miss World at the start of a year that could see her achieve international stardom.



The actress shot to fame as the face of Pepsi in India but continued studying for an architecture degree until winning Miss World in 1994.

After that, the film roles poured in - and she has starred in 27 movies to date.

She is also set to make her international film debut in a Bollywood version of Jane Austen`s classic novel Pride And Prejudice - re-named Bride And Prejudice.

Despite winning the title from a host of better-known names, Rai, 30, seems to have made an impression with her fellow actresses and starlets.

Julia Roberts reportedly declared her `the most beautiful woman in the world`.
