MGM and Eon Productions allegedly split over the `Americanization` of James Bond 007

17-Jan-2004 • Casino Royale

Movie gossip site Ain`t It Cool News have published a rumour that reportedly emanates from the heart of the MGM and Eon Productions relationship.

The piece alleges that the two organisations are split on the direction that Bond 21 should take.

Apparently US movie studio MGM want to further `Americanize` 007 - a British MI6 agent - in order to increase box-office takings, by using an American crew and American setting for Bond`s next outing.

The article alleges that Eon Productions are not happy to take this direction with the next film, due out in November 2005, and that the disagreement has the two parties "at breaking point".
