Director Martin Campbell to help revive classic sci-fi 'Blake's 7'
Syfy network has comissioned a remake of the classic "Blake's 7". FremantleMedia will make 13 hour-long episodes, many written by Joe Pokaski who worked on the US fantasy series "Heroes".
"GoldenEye" and "Casino Royale" director Martin Campbell has been commissioned to direct.
Unlike hit "Star Trek", the British made 1970s original sci-fi series offered a more nihilistic, or Orwellian, view of society.
According to FremantleMedia, the new series will be set in 2136 and will "tell the story of seven criminals - six guilty and one innocent - on their way to life on a prison colony in space, who together wrestle freedom from imprisonment".
