Updates on Daniel Craig's non-Bond film slate

18-Jul-2013 • Actor News

Two interested tidbits about Daniel Craig's work schedule outside of his James Bond commitments have come to light today in a wider piece about David Fincher projects.

First up, Sony have paid yet more money to another screenwriter to polish up a sequel to Fincher's "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo". Given Daniel Craig's commitment to start Bond 24 work late next year, and his Broadway production of 'Betrayal' running until the end of this year, it would appear that a very tight shooting schedule in early 2014 is the only chance they have of getting "The Girl Who Played with Fire" completed before 2016.

Secondly, it has been revealed that Craig was offered but turned down the lead role in a Disney big budget remake of "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea." Also to be helmed by Fincher, the $200m 3D blockbuster would have shot in Australia for 140 days later this year. Both Craig and Matt Damon turned down the gig. Disney have now axed the project as Fincher has moved on to direct "Gone Girl" with Ben Affleck this fall. Bond girl Rosamund Pike is reported to be the front-runner for the leading female role opposite Affleck.
