Pinewood opens 'Q' stage but still pushing campaign to expand
For some time now Pinewood Studios have been hoping to double the size of their Buckinghamshire studio setup - the spiritual home of the 007 franchise - but planning permissions have thwarted the company to date.
At the recent AGM the Pinewood chairman, Lord Grade, told attendees that the studio was working to maximum capacity and needed to expand: "The company continues to invest in its existing facilities to ensure that it remains a leading destination for producers of creative content.Film revenues to date reflect very high stage and facility occupancy, television continues to experience high levels of utilisation."
This comes after the company recently opened a £7.5m stage, named after the legendary gadget master of the 007 franchise: "Q". Q Stage houses 30,000 square feet sound stage and an additional 15,000 of workshop space.
