Daniel Craig's 'Betrayal' closes on Broadway and breaks records

The latest production of Harold Pinter's play "Betrayal", starring Daniel Craig and wife Rachel Weisz, had its final performance on Broadway on Sunday, and closed out a phenomenal run.

Over the limited engagement 14-week run, the play took in just over $17.5 million. The sell out shows commanded premium prices of $423 a ticket.

During the holiday season, the play set a new record for the highest-grossing non-musical in a single week in Broadway history, earning $1,442,086 for the week ending December 29th. While budget figures were not disclosed, the production is confirmed to have recouped its investment roughly ten weeks into the run.

It is an fantastic achievement considering the much marketed "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark", which also closed this weekend on Broadway, stands to lose an estimated $60 million despite a cumulative gross of $212.4 million during its three-year run.
