Screenwriter John Logan talks 'Skyfall' and Bond 24

Screenwriter John Logan, who co-penned the blockbuster "Skyfall" (Neal Purvis and Robert Wade created the first draft), and is signed up to create the next two Bond adventures, talked to Empire Magazine this month (July 2014 issue) about his work on the franchise.

"Skyfall was the best time Iâve ever had working on a movie," he said. "To have my joy in the process reflected in the success of the movie is very rewarding. All I ever wanted to do was try to be true to Ian Flemingâs classic creation: sardonic, sly, tough and with some panache."

What was it about the film that caused a record number of audiences around the world to love the film? "I think because we took all the characters, the franchise and the audience seriously and treated them with respect," Logan explained. "The film has a heart and real passion â and thatâs what audiences respond to most. I think Bond fans in particular were pleased to see such obvious love on our part for the history of the franchise."

On the subject of what he learned from working on 'Skyfall' and going in to Bond 24, Logan said: "Take it seriously. Find the wit. Be brave."
