Tabloids pitch Sam Smith and FKA Twigs for work on Bond 24 soundtrack
You wait and wait for news about a musical artist for Bond 24 and then two come along on the same day.
The tabloids have started to poke around agents and publicity hungry singers to see who fancies a shot at being linked to Bond 24, and the
New York Post and London's
Evening Standard have filled the vacuum.
According to the Post, British singer Sam Smith "has been selected to sing the theme tune for the upcoming James Bond movie, edging out Lana Del Rey." Smith has apparently "been in talks with Bond producer Barbara Broccoli about singing the theme and is the clear winner, disappointing Del Rey, who had lobbied hard." While a rep for Del Rey didnât respond, a rep for Smith said, "That is not confirmed."
Meanwhile, the Standard is touting that 'Pendulum' singer FKA twigs will be contributing to the soundtrack of Bond 24 (but not the actual title song). According to the paper, "twigs met with top executives and they told her Mendes loves her music and wants some of it in Bond. He was nudged in her direction by Adele, who loves twigs. If she gets Bond she'll become a well known name."
The paper's 'source', also said that Adele was still a shoe-in for the Bond 24 title track after her Oscar win, saying: "Adele will still be the iconic songstress of Bond 24 and is writing a new song for it."
