Mexico added to Bond 24 location shoot schedule

14-Nov-2014 • Spectre (2015)

According to Daily Mail columnist Baz Bamigboye, who reliably predicted a series of casting rumours and plot points for "Skyfall", Mexico will also play host to 007 in the course of shooting Bond 24.

The new James Bond production already has a busy location shoot planned, with Austrian location pre-production well under way and the second unit planning a car chase in the streets of Rome, Italy. Moroccan locations have also been scouted and Daniel Craig was spotted in the country, socialising with a friend and fellow actor, Mark Strong.

Bond has visited Mexico on a few occasions before, but the country more often than not, doubled for some other locale. The most notable use of the nation's vistas came in 1988-89 when the production team was based there for "Licence To Kill". As many avid viewers will know, Mexico doubled for a fictional drug haven, the Republic of Isthmus, but Baja California is mentioned by name as the location of Blofeld's oil rig command centre in "Diamonds Are Forever". Second unit work has been shot on location in Baja for "Quantum of Solace", and model shots captured there for "Tomorrow Never Dies".

The location's involvement in the plot of the 24th James Bond film still remains uncertain.
