Bond 24 will be shot on film, cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema confirms
When Roger Deakins joined Sam Mendes for the film that became "Skyfall", Deakins pushed the mould and made the 23rd film the first Bond film shot in digital.
Now that Deakins has declined to return to Mendes' second and the 24th James Bond adventure, "Interstellar" cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema has
joined the Bond family.
He recently revealed to
Hitfix that the 24th movie would be shot on film.
Of joining the production, and working with Mendes, the cinematographer says: "I'm totally humbled by that and the incredible cinematographers that Sam worked with. And I hope I can live up to the expectations."
Speaking to
Den of Geek, van Hoytema elaborated on his love of the medium: "I have to say I love film above all. I have the most affinity with celluloid and I feel most comfortable shooting that. But the whole thing about film versus digital, I mean the biggest mistake with it is that itâs always presented as film versus digital. I donât think that one thing rules out the other and I donât think that one thing is better than the other."
