9 cars for SPECTRE stolen from German production plant

08-Dec-2014 • Spectre (2015)

German media has reported that 9 cars being prepared for the 24th James Bond film SPECTRE have been stolen.

The news came from Neuss, near Dusseldorf, where five Range Rover Sport models being tailored for use in the movie were pinched. Another four have gone missing from the Land Rover Training Center.

The vehicles had a combined value estimated at just under $1 million USD.

They were being prepared to be transported to the location shoot in the Austrian Alps.

New cars will have to undergo the customisation process. It is not known whether this will affect the shooting schedule.

German police have been unable to find any clues as to their whereabouts and suspect a professional gang.

"Car thefts are unfortunately an industry-wide problem, since European legislation requires that automakers must make the vehicle data of its diagnostic system available. This is addressed by Jaguar Land Rover to the appropriate authorities to introduce changes," said a spokeswoman for Jaguar Land Rover Germany about the incident.
