Christoph Waltz talks of his SPECTRE character and casting, denies rumours (updated)

14-Dec-2014 • Spectre (2015)

The double Oscar-winning Austrian actor who has recently been cast in SPECTRE, the 24th Bond film, spoke to Screen Crush about taking on the role and about his character, Franz Oberhauser.

He was reportedly evasive about addressing the rumours that hit the media before his casting was officially confirmed by Mendes. It was previously reported and widely expected that he would be playing the historic head of SPECTRE, Ernst Stavro Blofeld. But Waltz asserted in this recent interview his character was Oberhauser and that was all. "The character is called Franz Oberhauser." Adding: "That’s a fact. I can guarantee."

UPDATE: In another soundbite, this time acquired by Collider, Waltz denied the Blofeld rumours, saying: "It’s more interesting than that."

Screen Crush promise a fuller interview soon with a focus on Tim Burton's "Big Eyes", which Waltz is currently promoting.
