Proposed Italian prop firearm laws postponed, will not inhibit SPECTRE shoot
MI6 reported back in November that the proposed change in legislation in Italy could inhibit SPECTRE (then known only as Bond 24) and other international films hoping to shoot in the country.
007's latest adventure has scheduled to shoot in Rome from mid-February for up to a month and it will involved a handful of action set-pieces, more than likely involving fire arms.
The Italian Motion Picture Association called the new regulations "technically debatable" and cautioned that they would be technically impossible with which to comply fully. The contents of the new regulations were not made clear in English language reports.
Now reports from the country indicate that the changes have been placed on hold - at least long enough for SPECTRE to capture its scenes without extra legalise. Meanwhile, Italy hopes to attract further Hollywood productions to stage sequences within its borders and is offering generous tax credits for foreign productions. According to Luciano Sovena, president of the Rome Lazio Film Commission, SPECTRE's shoot alone is expected to bring 50 million Euros to the local economy
