'Diamonds Are Forever' casino and hotel closing its doors
The Riviera Hotel and Casino on Las Vegas Boulevard South closed earlier this month after 60 years as a Vegas icon.
Before closing the ageing establishment played host to the American Pool Players Association championship, what some reporters are calling a "last hurrah".
Throughout its 60 years it has played host to concerts and celebrity visits from Joan Crawford, through Elvis, to Barbra Streisand and Frank Sinatra.
The Hotel Riviera served as the interior of the Whyte House and Bond's hotel, the Tropicana, whilst Guy Hamilton and Sean Connery shot his final 'official' 007 adventure on location in Vegas. The crew even used the hotel as their accommodation whilst on location.
The hotel was also host to other film shoots including "The Godfather" and "Fear And Loathing In Los Vegas".
