Brosnan breaks his silence on his future as 007, his commitment is `opaque` - the rumour mill picks up speed again

02-Mar-2004 • Casino Royale

Pierce Brosnan has made his first comment about his future as 007 since the rumours of his departure were quickly `confirmed` as fact by various outlets.

Trade paper Variety reported on a brief soundbyte from Brosnan:

"Variety chatted with one of the many superstars at the Oscars Night Before party, Pierce Brosnan, who noted he`d completed four films in a row. As for whether he`ll be back for another outing as James Bond, Brosnan said that commitment was "opaque."

MGM denied the `Brosnan axed` rumours back on February 13th through trade press, and Eon Productions gave a statement to Empire Magazine shortly afterwards saying Brosnan was still their Bond.

The rumour mongering is likely to continue until the gunbarrel of Bond 21 opens on November 18th 2005.
