Anthony Horowitz apologies for black Bond comments
Author Anthony Horowitz, who gave a
candid interview to the Daily Mail at the weekend, took to Twitter today to apologise for is comments about Idris Elba.
Horowitz was met with accusations of racism for his comments, after he said: "For me Idris Elba is a bit too rough to play the part. Itâs not a colour issue. I think he is probably a bit too âstreetâ for Bond. Is it a question of being suave? Yeah."
The author took to Twitter to issue the following statement:
âIâm really sorry my comments about Idris Elba have caused offenceâ, he wrote on Tuesday evening. âIn the article I express the opinion that to my mind Adrian Lester would be a better choice but Iâm a writer not a casting director so what do I know?
âClumsily, I chose the word âstreetâ as Elbaâs gritty portrayal of DCI John Luther was in my mind but I admit it was a poor choice of word. I am mortified to have caused offence.â
