Nightclub audience left disappointed when Sean Connery fails to attend ladies night
A nightclub has been criticised for implying Sir Sean Connery was going to attend one of its ladies' nights.
Camelots in Doncaster used a picture of someone looking like the actor in a newspaper advertisement with the slogan "Special appearance - Sean Connery", reports the BBC.
The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) ruled the advert was misleading after receiving a complaint about it.
Club bosses had argued readers would not be misled "because the tickets were priced at only £30".
But the ASA decided the picture in the advertisement "resembled Sean Connery and that some readers were likely to infer that the real Sean Connery would attend the event".
And it asked the club to make it clearer in future when a lookalike will attend events.
