Jane `Solitaire` Seymour to headline Florida fund-raiser in November
A former Bond Girl and pioneering Old West doctor will be the featured speaker at Mid-Florida Medical Services Foundation's 15th annual Fall Gala this year, reports
PolkOnline.
Jane Seymour, best known for playing Solitaire in the 1973 James Bond film, "Live and Let Die," and her title role in "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman", will headline the annual fund-raiser this November.
Although the England native has a long, diverse career in film, television and Broadway - starring in everything from "Battlestar Galactica" to "The Sun Also Rises" to the animated "Quest for Camelot" - she's also a noted children's activist.
Seymour, 53, is actively involved in several charities, including Childhelp USA, UNICEF, the Make-a-Wish Foundation and the American Red Cross.
That's what made her a good choice for the Fall Gala, said Joel Thomas, executive director of the Mid-Florida Medical Services Foundation.
"The main reason we're interested and excited to have Ms. Seymour is her active philanthropic involvement with national and international not-for-profit organizations that work to improve the qualities of life for children and families," Thomas said.
The Fall Gala, which will benefit the foundation, is set for Tuesday, Nov. 9 at Nora Mayo Hall in Winter Haven.
Thomas said individual tickets cost $150 each, and the sponsorship levels begin at $500 and go up to $10,000.
The black-tie event annually raises thousands of dollars for the foundation, but this year the proceeds will be used differently, Thomas said.
Normally, the money goes toward the foundation's Scholarship Endowment fund, which helps Polk and Highlands county residents who are interested in health care careers.
