Pierce Brosnan reveals thoughts on `his` Bond, and lots more details from DAD

The Daily Record have scored another DAD interview, this time with Pierce Brosnan. He talks about his take on the Bond character, and some more detail on "Die Another Day".

Pierce Brosnan has lifted the lid on the next James Bond adventure and has promised fans he will reveal the dark side of the world`s most famous spy.

Die Another Day is Brosnan`s fourth outing as Bond and he says the makers, Eon Productions, are determined to make the 20th Bond adventure one to remember - not least because its release coincides with the 40th anniversary of the film franchise.

The Irish actor believes he has made Bond his own, by creating a brutal and wounded character who goes on the run in the latest instalment.

He adds: "This time, you see a much more desperate character in Bond. You see this renegade, a man completely out of his environment.

"He`s in a situation that you`ve never seen Bond before - so vulnerable and broken, as it were, because he`s captured and tortured in the beginning of the film."

He says: "This film has everything that everyone loves about Bond, but much more so. I think they`ve thrown everything but the kitchen sink at it, but in a good way.

"I mean, the set-pieces in this thing are just enormous and there are references to past Bonds which will really be enjoyed by the connoisseurs of all the films."

The story kicks off with 007 infiltrating enemy lines by surfing a monstrous wave directly into North Korea, with a spectacular high- speed hovercraft chase ensuing through the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea.

The action continues to Hong Kong, Cuba and London, where Bond encounters the mysterious Jinx, played by Halle Berry, and MI6 agent Miranda Frost (Rosamund Pike).

The two women duplicitously assist Bond unmask a traitor and prevent a war of catastrophic proportions.

Pierce says: "Working with Halle Berry has been the most fun. I can now say I`ve been in the sack with Halle Berry.

"She is absolutely wonderful. She`s great to do the love scenes with because she`s so relaxed and fun most of all.

"She`s got a great sense of herself and her whole body. And apart from that, she`s just such a cool lady and lovely girl. I`ve got a great respect for her and a real fondness for her. Having her as part of the Bond family has been great. She`s such a phenomenal actress."

Blazing a trail in hot pursuit of principal plotters Gustav Graves, played by Toby Stephens and Colonel Moon, played by Will Yun Lee, Bond treks to the frigid glaciers of Iceland where he experiences first- hand the power of an ingenious new weapon, called Icarus.

Barely escaping alive, a bruised, battered and betrayed Bond must return to Korea for a climactic showdown with his ruthless adversary.

On Day 85 of the seven-month shoot, Brosnan has spent most of the day engaged in extensive fencing rehearsals with Toby Stephens in preparation for an elaborate duel between the two adversaries.

After the five-hour session, he has showered and is wrapped in a towel as he relaxes in his dressing room and admits the training gave him the confidence to go ahead with the scene. Brosnan explains: "I finally felt today that for the first time I wasn`t a blundering idiot, which can be especially dangerous when you`re dealing with foils, sabers, broadswords and daggers.

"I`ve done sword-fighting before, but nothing to this extent. This is very, very big."
