`Casino Royale` rumoured to be the basis for Bond 21 script

02-Aug-2004 • Casino Royale

Similar rumours are swirling around Bond 21`s script as happened for "The World Is Not Enough" back in 1998.

The latest James Bond 21 story involves the original "Casino Royale" novel by Ian Fleming, first published in 1953.

Several websites and media outlets are running stories that the script for Bond 21 is based on the original novel, with some elements from the previously unused (in the official series) novel forming the basis for story lines and characters.

"Keeping The British End Up" readers will be already aware of this latest theory, as MI6 Forums member "Insider" posted the claims back in mid-June.

"Insider", who has been reliable for several details during the "Brosnan Axed" saga earlier this year, revealed the following points:

  • Elements of the story have been influenced by Ian Fleming's original 007 novel "Casino Royale", it is NOT completely based on it.

  • 007's character was written with Brosnan in mind.

  • There is NO title at this time.

  • Director to be announced within 2 months.

MI6 Rumour Rating: Treat all stories like this with extreme caution. Most pre-shooting rumours about the next Bond film are later proved to be false.

Thanks to `Insider` for the alert.
