Brosnan to collect `Career Achievement Award` at Chicago Film Festival

22-Sep-2002 • Bond News

Pierce Brosnan will be picking up a "Career Achievement Award" on the opening night of this year`s Chicago Film Festival, on Friday October 4th 2002.

To you, he may be Mr. James Bond. But Pierce Brosnan`s rugged, dashing good looks and charming manner have won him more than sleuth stardom. Join us as we honor an actor who`s never rested on his laurels. Stretching his talents in many directions, he`s won over audiences with an ever-present, mischievous twinkle in his eye and a winning smile. With his company Irish DreamTime, he`s been able to produce box office hits like "The Thomas Crown Affair" and labors of love such as "The Nephew" and our opening night feature, "Evelyn". Five years in the making, "Evelyn" brought Brosnan to the rolling green hills of his homeland, Ireland, and reunited him with director Bruce Beresford, with whom he worked on "Mister Johnson" (1990). In a highly charged, personal performance, he plays Desmond Doyle, an anguished father abandoned by his wife, trying to rescue his children from the Irish courts who placed them in orphanages. Of course, you can catch Brosnan on the screen once again this fall as Bond in "Die Another Day".

Join us for an elaborate Festival Kick-Off bash on Marshall Field’s historic 7th Floor at State Street. Enjoy a lavish buffet, cocktails and wine, and experience the anticipation of Opening Night! Next, head up the street to the spectacular Chicago Theatre for an onstage tribute to Pierce Brosnan. Then sit back as the lights go down for our Opening Night feature, Evelyn.

Visit the festival website for ticket information.

Thanks to `Umpire` for the aleert.
