Encyclopaedic knowledge of James Bond villains helps youngster become Junior Mastermind 2004
An encyclopaedic knowledge of fictional spy James Bond and his adversaries has helped a Cardiff boy clinch the title of
Junior Mastermind 2004 on BBC television.
Daniel Parker, 11, won the competition which combines specialist and general knowledge by eight points over his nearest challenger. He was equal first after the first round but took a clear lead in the general knowledge round - reports the
BBC.
Daniel got into the final of the competition - hosted by presenter John Humphreys - after winning his heat with the subject of classic car the VW Beetle.
He chose James Bond villains for the final, and used cards featuring the characters to help him revise.
Daniel said of his choice: "I like the Bond films because of the action, the cars and the gadgets and I think the villains make up what the Bond film is today.
"I think Jaws is the best of the baddies."
He clinched his victory with a strong showing in the general knowledge round, ending up with a final score of 31 points.
Daniel said he had not realised he had won until John Humphreys announced it.
"I was so happy, I couldn't believe it," he added.
