Pierce Brosnan says he gained his US Citizenship in order to vote for John Kerry

01-Oct-2004 • Actor News

As first revealed by MI6 earlier in the week, the four times James Bond gained his US Citizenship in an LA District Court House on September 23rd 2004.

Pierce Brosnan was accompanied by his wife Keely Shaye-Smith. Manager of the Jury and Naturalization department, Frank Galvan, awarded Brosnan in the usual low-key ceremony, just weeks ahead of when voters will decide between Kerry and President Bush as the USA's leader for the next four years.

Brosnan said, "I want to have a voice. I want to be able to vote for John Kerry."

According to ContactMusic, after taking his oath, Brosnan returned to his home on Malibu, California, where he was greeted by his wife Keely, their two children and a cake decorated with an American flag.

Brosnan, who will retain dual citizenship, adds, "I found a whole new life and identity in America. (But) my heart and soul will forever be Irish."
