Timothy Dalton in Australasia for `Hercules` filming

25-Nov-2004 • Actor News

Former 007 Timothy Dalton has been in Queenstown, New Zealand, for the past week filming scenes for the $20 million American mini-series Hercules.

The two-time James Bond plays Hercules' step-father Amphitryon as part of a cast that includes "Lord of the Rings" star Sean Astin.

Cast and crew have been filming around the resort since last week for the four-hour Hallmark mini-series that will air on the NBC network.

Dalton left on Monday, with the rest of the cast scheduled to fly out shortly afterwards.

Film spokeswoman Sue May said the series was an epic that tracked the life of the Greek hero.

Most of the filming had taken place in Auckland with about a week around Queenstown, with locations including Arcadia and Deer Park Heights.
