British bookmakers adjust the James Bond #6 odds

09-Jan-2005 • Bond News

The New Year period has seen a real shake up in the William Hill betting for who will be the next James Bond 007. X-Men star Hugh Jackman has been the subject of a huge gamble and is the new favourite, having been slashed from 7/1 to 2/1 - reports ReadABet.

His favouritism has been highlighted as Ewan McGregor, the 5/2 pre-Christmas favourite, looks unable to take the role (even if offered) as he is contracted for most of 2005 to the musical Guys and Dolls and he is now an 8/1 shot with Hills.

"The shortlist for the next Bond has been kept under lock and key and conflicting reports have confused punters. There does not seem to be any obvious reason for the sums of money that we are taking on Hugh Jackman but it is possible that someone knows something we do not. The most creditable reports we have received suggest that the producers were looking for an actor in his early thirties who is a relative unknown and can grow into the role." said Hills spokesman Rupert Adams

Latest Odds:
Dougray Scott 7/4
Hugh Jackman 2/1
Orlando Bloom 11/2
Jude Law 6/1
Ewen McGregor 9/1
Colin Farrell 10/1
