Former Bond girl Michelle Yeoh makes surprise appearence at Chinese New Year party

13-Feb-2005 • Actor News

The guests mingled and feasted on delicacies, not expecting the surprise at the MCA Chinese New Year open house in Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia, yesterday - reports The Star.

It was an explosive moment indeed, when the emcee announced that former James Bond girl Datuk Michelle Yeoh was coming to the event.

After a few stunned seconds, the crowd surged forward to meet the actress as she walked into the Dewan Tuanku Abdul Rahman at 11.40am.

Clad in a khaki shirt and long pants, Yeoh looked smart as she walked in with four companions.

Heads turned and many people rushed to shake her hand or ask for her autograph.

Her 20-minute presence certainly brought added cheer to the celebrations to usher in the Year of the Rooster.

Yeoh said she was glad to meet the people who attended the open house.

“I’m making a private visit and this is the second time I’m visiting this beautiful state,” she added.

Asked whether she would feature Terengganu in her next film, she replied: “Maybe. But, I have not planned my next movie yet.”

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh, who was the guest of honour, said he was pleased by Yeoh’s visit to the state.

He said the internationally acclaimed Malaysian-born actress could help promote the state by choosing it as a movie location.

Thanks to `JP` for the alert.
