Clive Owen says he will deal with James Bond role `if and when it comes`

08-Mar-2005 • Casino Royale

British movie star Clive Owen is sick of gossip linking him with the lead role in the next James Bond movie, emphasising he hasn't even been approached to take over from Pierce Brosnan - reports ContactMusic.

The 21st 007 film is shrouded in secrecy with just the title Casino Royale and director Martin Campbell confirmed - even though it is due to hit cinemas next year (2006).

"Closer" star Owen has, however, been hotly tipped to slip in the tuxedo made vacant by Brosnan's departure as the world famous superspy.

But Owen insists, "Every week there's a new guy linked to the reports.

"This Bond story has been circulating for months now. I haven't received any offer, and I'll deal with it if and when it comes.

"It's a waste of time and nervous energy otherwise, and I'm not going to pay any attention to it unless there's something on the table to discuss."

Thanks to `Martin Mystery` for the alert.
