Pierce and Madonna reveal who they think is the best Bond

Pierce Brosnan has voted Sean Connery the best James Bond ever.

Madonna was accused of putting her foot in it when she backed Connery as the best Bond - even though she has a cameo role in the new Bond film, Die Another Day, and sings the theme song for it.

Brosnan says he thought Connery was born to be Bond the instant he saw Goldfinger.

And he revealed that he had only once met Connery outside Pinewood Studios where Brosnan was filming The World Is Not Enough in 1998.

He told US Esquire magazine: "Sean casts a long shadow over the whole Bond thing. He knows that and relishes it, I think. He`s still the best."

The magazine poll rated Connery as the best Bond, followed by Brosnan, then Roger Moore, George Lazenby and finally Timothy Dalton.
