Clive Owen turns down James Bond role for fear of type casting according to UK press

06-Apr-2005 • Casino Royale

Following up The Sun's story today that Daniel Craig has been chosen as the sixth James Bond with a three-film contract, The Guardian reports that Clive Owen turned down the chance to become 007.

According to the paper, Clive Owen "told casting agents he did not want the job as he feared it might limit his career."

The job of taking over from Pierce Brosnan is a serious commitment, and the paper speculates 007 #6 could spend the next 10 years in the role, a chore said to be worth a cool £15m.
