Orlando Bloom delivers sanity check on Young James Bond rumours

Orlando Bloom has delivered a sanity check for tabloid journalists around the world by strongly denying rumours that he was being lined up to play a young James Bond role.

The rumours were started by an unfounded Sky News report that claimed the actor would be playing the Young Bond of Charlie Higson's literary series - despite the character being 12 years old in "SilverFin".

At a press junket promoting "Kingdom of Heaven" this morning in Los Angeles, Orlando Bloom answered the recent rumours.

"I'm not doing young James Bond" he said, "My manager, my agent have never mentioned it to me, not to date. Young or old it has never been mentioned to me. I don't know where that came from, but I've never heard a whiff of it" said Bloom.
