Dame Judi Dench u-turns on the status of Pierce Brosnan as 007

24-May-2005 • Casino Royale

Dame Judi Dench has done a u-turn on the casting of 007. The veteran actress who has played M in the last four James Bond films, and has already been confirmed to appear in the forthcoming "Casino Royale", has changed her stance on the status of Pierce Brosnan.

Last month, Dench claimed Pierce Brosnan would be back as 007 and the announcement would be made this summer.

In an interview with the Seattle Times today, Dench has reversed her previous statement and said that she doesn't know who will be cast in the famous tuxedo.

"All I know is that I'm going to be in it. I don't know if it's Pierce [Brosnan], or someone else," Dench said. "Every young actor around has been mentioned."
