Over half of James Bond fans want 007 #6 to be British, says latest MI6 poll

25-Jul-2005 • Casino Royale

Results from the latest "Casino Royale" poll on MI6 - the world's most visited James Bond website - reveal that over half of fans want the next 007 to be played by a British actor.

The results of the poll clash with who many see as the new favourite to win the James Bond role - Croatian actor Goran Visnjic. The other three actors from the final cour contenders - named this weekend - are Brits Henry Cavill and Ewan Stewart, and Australian Alex O'Lachlan.

There was an almost equal split between those not specifying that James Bond should be British: one half voting that nationality of the actor did not matter, and the others voting that he should be foreign!

Should the next James Bond actor be British?
Yes - 56.15 %
Does not matter - 21.57 %
No - 22.28 %

"Casino Royale", the 21st James Bond film, will be directed by Martin Campbell and shooting is scheduled to commence on January 17th 2006 in Prague and South Africa. No casting decisions have been made officially. The release is planned for October 19th 2006. Stay tuned to MI6 for the latest and most accurate coverage of Casino Royale
