Ewan McGregor is sick of the Bond rumours - but gets a little more press

Ewan McGregor is furious with an unnamed journalist who wrote he was "always wittering on about playing" James Bond, insisting he barely speaks about the potential film role.

The Moulin Rouge! Star is adamant he has never exacerbated rumours that he could be next in line to play the super sleuth after the latest 007 Pierce Brosnan - reports Ireland Online.

He says: "I get asked about Bond quite a lot and then a magazine said I was wittering on about playing Bond yet again. It was a very cutting piece.

"When purely the journalist had said: 'Are you playing Bond?', and I had answered the question because I'm polite enough to answer a question that I am asked.

"But I haven't been approached. I'm not as far as I know. But he would be an interesting character to make your own."
