007 #6 rumour control - Steven Brand linked by British radio

British actor Steven Brand is the latest name to be linked with the James Bond role for the forthcoming movie "Casino Royale", due out in October 2006.

Best known outside the UK for his role as Memnon in "The Scorpion King", 37 year-old Brand has mostly worked in television.

According to the radio entertainment news bulletins earlier in the week, Brand is the "surprise" choice to take over from Pierce Brosnan.

MI6 Rumour Rating: Eon Productions have recently screentested a couple of "unknowns", but Brand's name could not be confirmed by sources.
