Craig and Cavill head to head for 007 #6 claim UK tabloids

Daniel Craig and Henry Cavill have gone head to head in an audition to become the new James Bond 007 according to the latest coverage of the saga in the British tabloid press. 'Layer Cake' actor Craig and young hopeful, Cavill, met with film bosses and had screen tests on the same day.

The pair also tried on a smart tuxedo to be worn by the dashing spy in the upcoming Bond movie, 'Casino Royale'.

A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper the search for a replacement for Pierce Brosnan - who vacated the role earlier this year - is in its final stages.

The "insider" (anonymous as ever) said: "The hunt to find the next James Bond is down to the final hurdle.

But there is trouble amongst the decision makers in coming to a conclusion on where to take Bond next.

MI6 exlusively reported two weeks ago that Sony were pressuring the producers to hire Pierce Brosnan to return for a fifth time as 007.
