13-Oct-2005 • Event

The Lotus Esprit, the breathtaking sports car in the 1977 James Bond movie The Spy Who Loved Me was voted the most memorable car in film history in August by a poll from the UK DVD rental, Lovefilm. Soon, North and South Carolina residents will be able to own one of these hot cars with the debut of the first Lotus dealership in the area. Most notably known for its appearances in famous movies, the sleek and stylish British sports car is sure to turn some heads throughout the Triangle appearing in colors such as Krypton green, saffron yellow and the always classic starlight black. The dealership`s Grand Opening was Friday Oct. 7 - reports CarolinaNewswire.

David `Sport` Durst, CEO and President of Millennium Auto, is transforming the old Toyota of Durham into a new upscale dealership located off of Chapel Hill Boulevard. In addition to Lotus, the dealership will carry Lexus, BMW, Mercedes and Jaguar vehicles.

`We are excited to bring Lotus to the Carolinas,` said Durst. `Lotus makes an incredible sports car and the Triangle has its share of sports car enthusiasts.`

The dealership will carry mainly the Lotus Elise, which goes from zero to 60 in under five seconds and zero to 100 in under 13 seconds. Starting in January 2006 Durst hopes to also sell a few of the new limited addition cars called the Exige, which are currently not available in the United States. The dealership also expects to bring in the car that Durst says sold him on the franchise late next year. The car, whose name has been kept a secret, will be the replacement for the Lotus Turbo Esprit, featured in James Bond movies and Pretty Woman. The new car will retail about $100,000.

Lotus of Durham is conveniently located at 4511 Chapel Hill Blvd in Durham and is open Monday through Saturday from 9 am until 8 pm and Sunday from noon to 5 pm. For more information about Lotus of Durham please call toll free1-800-935-9014 or visit www.lotusofdurham.com .
