Jane Seymour to appear in Raleigh, USA, for Red Cross fundraiser
Emmy and Golden Globe winner Jane Seymourâs delicate watercolors and vibrant oil paintings will be featured this weekend at the
Carolina Country Club in Raleigh.
The former James Bond girl has shipped fifty of her paintings to the Triangle to help raise money for the American Red Cross. Prices range from $500 to $35,000. This fund raising event is the brainchild of the local Triangle Chapter of the Red Cross.
âWe knew she supported the American Red Cross, so we picked up the phone and asked if she would come to Raleigh to help us raise money by offering her art for sale,â said Triangle ARC Executive Director Barry Porter. âAmazingly, she hadnât been asked to host an event like this to benefit the Red Cross, although sheâs exhibited her art all over the world. Jane not only agreed to participate; she is donating her time as well.â
The reception starts at 8 oâclock in the evening on Saturday, the 5th of November at the Carolina Country Club on Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh.
Guests will be entertained with music, cocktails, delectable food, fine art, and a reverse raffle hosted by MSNBCâs and the Triangleâs own Donna Gregory. David Crabtree, anchor of WRAL news will emcee. Raffle prizes include a 7-day trip to Cabo, Mexico, a weekend golf trip at Eseeola Lodge in North Carolina, fine jewelry from Ora, and a fully prepared gourmet dinner for eight, complete with fine wine, served in your home. Proceeds from the raffle also benefit the American Red Cross.
"It's a great honor to be asked to take part in this worthwhile endeavor for the American Red Cross,â said Seymour. âI can tell you from personal experience that the time I spend volunteering and working with other volunteers has enriched my life.â
Seymour is an artist in many senses. The actress, who has proven herself on the big screen (the James Bond thriller Live and Let Die) and on television (Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman), also paints. Her paintings of landscapes, flowers and children have been inspired by her incredible surroundings. From the views of her Malibu home to her castle in England, she incorporates the nature from her world into art.
Not only do avid art collectors and celebrities buy her work, but President Bush also has one of her paintings. "He has my painting of the Grand Tetons," Seymour said in a phone interview from her Malibu home. "It needed a splash of something, so I painted puppies into the landscape," she said. "That's the fun part of art. It's inspired by reality, and then you can take it to another dimension."
Ticket donations for the reception are $100 per person. Raffle tickets are $100 each (only 200 are available). For further information call 919.277.2807, email Linda Turner at turnerl@trianglearc.org.
