Bollywood, Bond and Daniel Craig... Sir Roger Moore comments during India trip
Itâs an India connection thatâs very much in evidence. His mother was born in Kolkata and Roger Moore himself filmed two movies here â Sea Wolves with David Niven and Gregory Peck, and, more famously, Octopussy, where he played Bond.
Now, Deborah Moore, his daughter, has a bit role in Jagmohan Mundhraâs Provoked, the true story of a Punjabi immigrant (Aishwarya Rai) who murders her abusive husband - reports the
Hindustan Times.
âItâs karma,â Sir Roger tells HT Style in an exclusive chat. The man who brought a wry sense of humour to his Bond roles is back in India, this time as Unicef goodwill ambassador. He itinerary includes Jaipur and Mumbai, where he is scheduled to meet such Bollywood names as Anupam Kher and Mahesh Bhatt to persuade them to get involved in various Unicef programmes. He also hopes to catch up with his Octopussy co-star, Kabir Bedi.
Moore confesses heâs never seen a full Bollywood film, except âbits and piecesâ on DVD. âOf course, Bollywood has made a tremendous impact and we have come a long way since the days when nobody knew what an Indian film was all about,â he says. âThings have changed from the days when you couldnât show anything beyond a womanâs neckline.â
Daniel Craig, the new James Bond, is a âgood actorâ, says Moore. And who is his fave Bond? âSean Connery,â comes the reply without any hesitation. And which Bond film does he like best? âThe Spy Who Loved Me.â
Any Bond moments he regrets? âIn The Man With A Golden Gun, I had to knock a little boy off a boat. I didnât like doing it,â he recalls. No wonder he roots for UNICEF.
