Self destructing Bond DVD sent to media outlets

14-Nov-2002 • Bond News

MI6 has been leaked details of a promotional "Die Another Day" DVD sent to US media agencies this week.

A letter from Q-Branch explains:
"Enclosed please find a new gadget with which I am quite pleased: a self-destructing DVD. I`ve burned the disc with an exclusive sneak peek at the latest exploits of our most successful secret agent, James Bond."

The letter continues to explain the 36-hour lifespan of the DVD and is signed "Q".

The FlexPlay DVD technology comprises of a special plastic coating on the disc which deteriorates when exposed to air. As DVD lasers operate within very strict parameters, the special coating can stop the disc from being able to be read after a certain level of exposure. The inventors claim this time period can be tailored from anywhere bewteen 8 and 60 hours.

1. "Die Another Day" Final Trailer 2:22
2. "Die Another Day" Madonna - Music Video 4:27
3. "Die Another Day" Teaser #1 1:02
