`Thunderball` singer Tom Jones and actor Robbie Coltrane honoured by the Queen

31-Dec-2005 • Bond News

Tom Jones has been made a knight in the New Year's Honours list, leading a host of names from the entertainment world.

The 65-year-old, whose hits include the theme to the 1965 James Bond film "Thunderball", has been honoured for services to music.

Also in the Queen's list was actor Robbie Coltrane, who played Valentin Zukovsky in "GoldenEye" (1995) and "The World Is Not Enough" (1999), said he was "absolutely delighted" to be honoured for his services to drama.

Broadcaster and former Newsnight presenter Peter Snow was given a CBE - he had auditioned for the role of 007 before Sir Sean Connery was cast in 1962.

Thanks to `Allen` for the alert.
