James Bond stunt to thrill crowd in Canberra, Australia
The 19th annual Summernats car festival continues in Canberra today, with a death-defying stunt on the program.
Stuntman Lawrence Ryan, also known as Lawrence Legend, will drive off a specially-made ramp, fly a car through the air in a spiral and attempt to land in one piece - reports
ABC.
Mr Ryan says it is a feat which has not been done since it appeared in a James Bond movie 32 years ago ("The Man With The Golden Gun").
"We were lucky enough to get hold of the plans that they actually put a patent on stopping anyone else doing, but the patent has expired and we're lucky enough to have it," he said.
"If it works properly it'll be one of those ones where I can actually drive the car back on the trailer instead of picking it up with a crane and putting it back on."
Miss Summernats will also be crowned today at the festival, which is expected to attract about 120,000 car fanatics over the four days.
Organisers have ramped up security this year, with 300 guards patrolling the grounds.
The four-day festival ends tomorrow afternoon after the burnout finals.
